The Receptionist responds to all calls coming into the switchboard console and assists visitors of the hospital.
Usually the first employee to meet and/or greet consumers or visitors of the hospital.
Will be working under the general supervision of the Community Relations Director with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
All completion work requires use of established methods and/or techniques with decisions being simple and based on well-defined guidelines.
Essential Job Functions:
Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Answers and transfers calls coming into switchboard console - Monitors fire alarm panels and makes announcements, as necessary - Assists visitors, patients, and family members and directs to appropriate location - Communicates with staff and/or patients via the P.

system - Attends and participates in all mandatory training - Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Experience in operating a telephone switchboard or console and receptionist clerical work Ability to transfer incoming calls to appropriate destination Ability to maintain files/records and prepare reports Registration or Licensure Requirements:
N/A Initial Selection Criteria:
Graduation from high school or equivalent needed One (1) year experience in operating a telephone switchboard or console and receptionist or clerical work Experience with transferring incoming calls to appropriate personnel and page through paging system, to communicate effectively, to greet and direct visitors and train others Experience with demonstrating professionalism when dealing with all contacts and ability to understand confidentiality.
Must have knowledge in the use of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word Experience working as a team member Additional Information:
Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aid, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct, and HHS OIG list of Excluded Individuals/Entities.
Males between the ages of 18-25 must be registered with the Selective Service.
