Housekeeping Aid

As the Housekeeping Aid for Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (TVCBHCS) the incumbent will be assigned to Environmental Management Service Line.
The Housekeeping Aid will perform a full range of light and heavy cleaning duties and routine housekeeping duties for the Health Care Center at Harlingen.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Sweep and mop floors, dust mop, damp mop, in-depth cleaning of floor surfaces hallways and stairwells; strip, scrub/refinish and buff tiled floors; shampoo, vacuum and clean carpets.
Spot shampooing, and/or bonnet carpet.
Maintain refinished floors using correct solutions and EMS guidelines.
Clean, disinfect and deodorize all patient and public restrooms to include urinals, toilets, stalls, sinks, bathtubs, shower stalls, mirrors all restroom fixtures; spot clean walls and perform floor care as required.
Perform high/low dusting, clean exterior surface of light fixtures, vents, medical instrument panels, night stands, and bedside tables, patient/visitor's side chair, overhead light fixtures and other auxiliary items; dust furniture, walls; clean ledges, door frames, baseboards, corners, edges, hallways, stairwells and high frequency touch points (light fixtures, doorknobs, handrails and guards); wash walls, blinds, woodwork and windows from the inside; polish metal fixtures.
Clean glass doors and other glass surfaces.
Replenish paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, etc.
) soap, hand sanitizers, or other supplies utilized where dispensers are located.
Check products with expiration dates to ensure they are not expired.
Move and arrange furniture, beds, etc.
in the assigned areas to accomplish cleaning tasks, and may be required to move heavy furniture using the proper equipment for the specific task.
The housekeeping Aid must be able to safely operate heavy-duty electrical equipment including wet and dry pickup vacuum, floor scrubbing and buffing machine, as well as other floor maintenance machines.
minor adjustments, cleans, and changes brushes, rollers, suffers and other attachments on above equipment.
Empty trash and waste baskets, replacing trash receptacle liners.
Collects and disposes of non-contaminated and/or regulated medical waste (trash) and recycling to central collection areas.
Transport trash to the established collection points, and is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of any Special Procedure Rooms and Dental Procedural Areas as needed on assigned shifts.
Due to specialized nature of the areas to be cleaned, incumbent must keep abreast of new methods and materials available pertaining to aseptic cleaning methods and the cleaning of conductive floors, etc.
Coordinate fully with area nursing supervisor who gives technical advice as required.
Apply established techniques in the handling of contaminated items including soiled linen, isolation cleaning, infection, cross infection and the transmission and control of same.
Prepare disinfectants and detergents in correct dilutions and select the proper cleaning materials for the job.
Must maintain a stock of supplies and inform supervisor when replacement is needed.
Incumbent reports conditions beyond his/her capabilities to the proper authorities within EMS for correction and/or repair.
Must follow aseptic techniques required in a healthcare environment.
The Housekeeping Aid will observe all safety regulations.
Responsible for selecting proper tools (brushes, mops, cleaners, floor finishes, etc.
) and be able to mix solutions and cleaners to the proper strength for the job to be performed.
Set up conference rooms for meetings as necessary.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
