Chief of Psychiatry

As the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VATCBHCS), Chief of Psychiatry for Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (TVCBHCS), the incumbent will be assigned to the Mental Health Service Line under Psychiatry Service.
The Chief of Psychiatry will work with the Associate Chief of Staff for Mental Health (ACOS-MH) and the Mental Health Administrative Officer (AO), the Chief of Psychiatry is responsible for the overall operation of the Psychiatry Service Line at the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VATVCBHCS).
The Chief of Psychiatry will oversee clinical psychiatry operations, including budget and fiscal management, human resource management, strategic planning, and program development.
The Chief of Psychiatry assures that the clinical and administrative functions are integrated in order to provide optimum utilization of available resources.
The Chief of Psychiatry ensures the quality and timeliness of the services provided, customer satisfaction, as well as compliance with standards of accrediting bodies such as The Joint Commission.
The incumbent ensures appropriate use of available resources and is responsible for inspiring, motivating, and guiding the VATVCBHCS psychiatry staff in achieving the strategic goals and plans of the service.
He/she collaborates with other supervisors in the Mental Health Service Line as well as non-Mental Health managers (Chief Medical Officers, service chiefs and program managers), in fulfilling his/her responsibilities.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
function as a provider in their specialty.
The Chief of Psychiatry will be responsible for the overall psychiatric care of patients with conditions requiring treatment in his/her specialty to include consultative, prescriptive and ordering authority in the outpatient setting at the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System.
The incumbent will ensure the quality and timeliness of the services provided and collaborates with referring providers.
Administrative duties include but are not limited to:
responsibility for the overall management of the VATVCBHCS Psychiatry Service Line, providing leadership and accountability for all aspects of psychiatric care at the VTAVCBHCS, utilization of data to formulate both short and long term strategic goals for the service line, implementation of general policies, standards, and goals that are consistent with the mission of VHA and in compliance with applicable accreditation agencies, monitor and ensure efficient and appropriate operation of the service line, manage all personnel aspects of the Psychiatry Service, and collaborate with the ACOS-MH to ensure effective operation of the overall Mental Health Service Line.
Clinical duties include but are not limited to:
provision of psychiatric care in an outpatient setting including diagnosis, management, and follow-up of psychiatric patients, review and make recommendations for transfer to a tertiary care center when appropriate, serve as an attending to medical students and psychiatry residents, and serve as the VA Psychiatry Residency Director/Coordinator in cooperation with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Adult Psychiatry Residency Program.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
