DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION:
Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.
This position is located at the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System in Harlingen, Texas.
The primary purpose of this position is to oversee and perform the technical work of the Histology Section, prepare histologic specimens for surgical pathology, cytology, and autopsy services, and perform a wide variety of histological tests.
Some of the duties and responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):
o Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Histology Sectiono Ensure that the preparation of histologic specimens for diagnostic examination complies with clinical, legal, and regulatory requirementso Maintain an appropriate stock of supplies and reagentso Develop, prepare, and assemble data for recurring reportso Monitor quality control systemso Perform bench work in all phases of Anatomic Pathology (specimen accessioning, specimen processing, embedding, cutting, routine and special stains, immunoperoxidate staining, etc)o Operate anatomic pathology equipmento Ensure cleanliness and safety of the laboratory and equipmento Track data such as patient requested consult cases, medical-legal requests, VA physician consult requests, Federal Torto Claims, HPV requests, etc.
o Perform other related duties as assigned Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:
00am-4:
30pm.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
