Contract Objective
The purpose of this contract is to provide general clerk/administrative services for the Veterans Affairs Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VATCBHCS). The intent of this contract is for temporary employment services on as needed basis by maintaining services, assisting manager to keep up timely operations, and providing continued services for duties of employees granted leave for dependent care, family emergencies, extended recovery, mandatory jury services or other personnel situations

Job Requirements
Possess knowledge of a wide range of clerical procedures and techniques.
Possess knowledge of ability to practice acceptable telephone etiquette and procedures.
Possess knowledge of correct spelling, punctuation, and grammatical construction for all types of letters, correspondences, memorandums, forms, listing and other communication formats.
Possess the ability to type accurately on a variety of subjects including medical and technical terminology.
Possess the ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
Possess the ability to use office computer terminals for retrieving information and making changes to records, through use of software packages loaded on center automation systems or personal computers. Software applications may include but are not limited to word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
Possess the ability to use references materials, e.g., medical dictionary, standard dictionary, thesaurus, correspondence manuals and additional reference materials as required.
Possess the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Communicating with customers (e.g., veterans, family members, and the general public) and co-workers in a courteous, tactful, friendly, cooperative manner is required.
Must possess the ability to file correspondence, assemble documents, and present completed work for review in logical orderly fashion in number or chronological sequence or by subject matter as directed.
Must possess the ability to deal effectively with all types of professional staff members and patients. Must be able to direct and assist visitors and guests to appropriate staff for assistance. Must demonstrate courtesy at all times and focus on good customers relations.
May have knowledge of medical terminology helpful, but not required.
May rotate to other clinics as needed.

Education Requirements
Must posses a High School Diploma
3-5 years of related work experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
