Employment Consultant/Full Time

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Develops opportunities to place participants with disabilities or other barriers to employment into competitive jobs within assigned geographical area.
Essential Functions:
o Plan and develop a strategy to place assigned caseload into competitive jobs
o May be required to transport participants to job interviews
o Conduct ongoing market research to determine available jobs
o Provide job related counseling to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining employment
o Market On-the-Job training, subsidized employment, tax incentives and job coaching to employers
o Provide monthly report of activities and other data as requested o Maintain client files in accordance with established standards, documenting client progress or issues in accordance with established standards
o Conduct ongoing customer satisfaction in order to retain participant's employment
o Adheres to and enforces safety and loss prevention procedures to prevent injury to personnel and damage to property, equipment and inventory OTHER
FUNCTIONS:
o Required to perform job-coaching duties o Works cooperatively with referring agency to review participant's vocational, educational and employment plans
o Actively participate with business affiliated organizations (i.e., Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development Councils, etc)
o Performs other functions as directed by assigned supervisor REQUIRED
Qualifications:
o Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation, Business, Marketing, or related Human Services plus one (1) year documented experience providing employment services, or;
o High School Diploma or GED certificate of completion, PLUS seven (7) years of documented experience providing employment services to individuals.
o Must pass Job Placement Specialist Course if working with DARS participants o Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
o Must be a self starter and self-motivated
o Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent short deadlines
o Able to read and write English and use communication skills with diverse customer base to provide prompt and courteous service
o Must have valid Texas driver's license, clean driving record and carry the minimum liability coverage as required by the State of Texas; must provide own transportation
o Must pass pre-employment background check and Drug/Alcohol test
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
o Knowledge of computer technology, word processing
o Bilingual
o Sales experience helpfu
o Prefer experience in working with people with disabilities and/or disadvantaging conditions PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING
CONDITIONS:
o Must be able to work flexible days/hours
o Vision and hearing corrected within normal limits
o Ability to lift minimum of 50 pounds
o May be required to stand or sit for long periods of timeEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
