Duties include, but are not limited to:
Security Assistant Receiving and compiling information from various sources related to police and emergency incidents Taking appropriate action regarding fire, intrusion, duress and holdup alarms, and directs response and/or notifies responsible personnel depending on the type of incident or request. Operating a variety of communications and security equipment, such as computers, alarm processors, radio consoles, card lock access, and related peripherals. Compiling and preparing Daily Operations Journal related to events occurring in the operation of the police control center for dissemination of the completed product to various supervisors, Service Chiefs, and top management officials. Contacting various local, State and Federal law enforcement officials for coordination of emergency situations. Radio Communications Maintaining accurate radio/alarm activity records/logs to include dates, times and results of communications activities. Responsible for the orderly flow of communications between the Police Control Center, Chief, Deputy Chief, Major, Lieutenants and Police Supervisors of the Service, and uniformed patrol officers for the everyday functions of police activities for the VATVCBHCS. Providing immediate and courteous direction and/or assistance to patients, visitors and employees. Work Schedule:

Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
coordinating radio and telephonic communications during normal and emergency operations; performing meticulous support work as it relates to established police programs and investigations; assisting criminal and administrative investigations by researching surveillance camera footage to better identify potential suspects and circumstances and employing active listening skills to better understand person who may be under distress, panic, delusional, etc. OR, Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have four year of post-secondary education. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Physical Requirements:
The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
